My mother, Jean is 96 years old. When she was born, in 1924, women had the right to vote for only four years. The 19th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution was ratified in August of 1920 – 100 years ago.
Yesterday, January 20, 2021, my mother witnessed the first woman elected to and sworn in as Vice President of the United States of America.
Often it seems positive change takes forever. But today we bear witness to the monumental step forward that has occurred in my mother’s lifetime.
